And a small one man fighter, unless they have planned to fix that exhaust port. So what would the benefits be of being one of those that funded it?

Call me an old curmudgeon, but what with all the sh!t going on in the world, wanting to build something that can destroy a whole planet seems a bit extreme. I'm sure twenty mills would be better spent on something less aggressive.

Just because it can, doesn't mean that it will. Also, that bit of functionality doesn't really have to be present. Just creating a space station like that would be cool enough, in my opinion. Mark

You could hardly call it a “Death Star” without that key piece of functionality present, though, would you? If anything it would have to be known as “Mild Terror Star”. Or “Eunuch Moon”.

I don't see the point of this. Wasn't there a response from the White House along the lines of: Which means that £20m is a paltry sum and even all the money in the world couldn't build it.

Money goes around; it never runs out. It would just take us a long time is all. Probably a billion years or so, although as technology improves that time would come down. The 20 million is needed just to draw a picture of how it might be done.

Surely it's already been done? Wasn't it a long time ago in a galaxy far away? Depending on how far away, the information should reach us sometime - travelling at the speed of light...

It probably already did, while no one was listening.

It already has. You only have to watch the Jedi Historical documents, currently in a boxset available from Amazon, and other good stores.

Let’s consider this story: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Into_the_Great_UnknownThis tells us that the events of Star Wars happened more recently than you’d think. The events in Into The Great Unknown took place 126 years before Indy discovered the remains of Solo.

Yeah but that story isn't real. Unlike the other ones, lol.

Let's hope we've built it before the Vogen attack fleet arrives
