I am a new Dropbox user. I am absolutely thrilled up with it. So far I have used it for the following. 1) I was able to put a large file onto their server and provide a link to it on a forum. I have long wanted a free way to pass large files around. I don't have my own web space and am not really savvy enough to set one up. This was a breeze to set up. I now have a Dropbox folder in my home folder. Anything I put in it is automatically on the web. 2) I have synced up all my computers for 1Password. So if I am on my lappy and go to a site that uses a password. If I add it to the laptops copy of 1P it updates back on my desktop. It does this anywhere I have a web connection. How cool is that? You get 2Gig of online storage for free. This is upped in chunks up to 5 Gigs if you introduce friends. Please be my friend. Follow the link below if you think this is a service that you would value too. https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTEzNjY5ODY5It is Mac and Win friendly. CC

Cheers John. They add an extra .25 of a Gig for each person you introduce. That is not the reason I posted though. I am really impressed with this service. On the Mac at least setup was a real dream and it is seriously easy to use. I think it would be a pretty good way to share between Macs and PCs too. CC

I know that's not why you posted and if they didn't have a Linux client I would have left it, but it's a bonus for you and might be useful for me. Everyone wins!

I have used it for 1Password. It is the recommended way of doing that. 1P is a cracking piece of software.

So do you have to install something for drop box to work or is it all web based?

There's a client to download that integrates with your file manager, whether it be Nautilus, Explorer or FInder. It's a small download. You sign up using the link, download the installer and then run it. It'll ask you to log in and away to go.

It would appear the web upload doesn't like 1gig files...

I've heard good things about it, although I haven't had a use for it yet.
