I've just had a look on google play and I can't find any mention of tapatalk 2, just tapatalk.

It might be iOS only, for now.

One of the new things I really love is the "timeline" view.

On Tapatalk 1 I stayed in unread all the time. The problem with that though is that as soon as you click on a post it disappears from unread so you struggle to get back to it.

With timeline it shows a history of all actions so you see the unread posts but also any that you have posted in, read, etc...

It's also much nicer to look at and works a lot more asynchronously.

Pretty much the entire app is brand new.

Yes that was a pain, but not a major problem.

Hmm, that does sound interesting, at the moment I'm having to subscribe to threads that I'm interested in, but don't want to comment on in order to be able to find them without having to search.

It isn't an upgrade. It is a new app called "Tapatalk 2" version 1.0. It isn't "Tapatalk" version 2.0.

That's how they are charging for it.

Yes a bit cheeky but it's definitely worth the money.

There's only one entry on the Android market for Tapatalk, and it says version 2...

I don't use Tapatalk often enough to warrant buying another copy
