I've been tardy and let my OS updates for Leopard slip a couple of releases. Today I decided to bite the bullet and shift from 10.5.5 to 10.5.7.

I downloaded the combo update just now, made sure my backups were updated, and started the installer. The odd thing is it appeared to be a mangled combination of English and German. :?

Before I completely cock it all up, can I ask if anyone else has the 730MB combo updater for 10.5.7, and did it also have a weird mixture of languages in the installer?

Ta.

Okay, don't worry.

In the end, I used Software Update and let it do its thing. So far, apart from this shonky Safari 4 which I'm going to have to learn to control all over again, it's worked okay.

:)

Sorry Heather, I looked at this last night and forgot to post back. The file size is correct, I don't recall if part of it were in German...
I looked through my Time Machine backups, but I don't have the original file anymore, I was going to check, or at least offer you to download it as it updated my Mac fine...

Thanks Ben.

It's all fine now anyway. It just looked odd with every other word in German, so I wondered if anyone else had come across it.

Cheers.

I'm not updating to Safari 4 until there's a way to revert the loading bar back to the blue progress of Safari 3.
Also, Safari 4 on my Windows box doesn't seem to support unicode in the Bookmarks bar. (8+(

To be honest, I've not properly missed the blue progress bar yet.

The more I use Safari 4 the less I dislike it. I've turned on text only scaling, and since Apple saw sense to put the tabs in the accepted place it's pretty usable. Then again, Top Sites annoys me intensely, and I'd like a way to permanently disable it.

I didn't want v4, but I got it by accident when I didn't uncheck the box. My fault, but I'll live with it. I used Firefox for web testing, so I'll see how I get on with this version before I decide to switch allegiance to another while Apple fix the worst excesses.

Someone found it in a file, I expect.

Mark, I've got the curly energy saver lamp now in the Preferences.
