There's a dancing gorilla in the image below:

How many of you spotted it first time within 10 seconds?

In all honestly, I didn't spot it until I had it pointed out to me. As a doctor, the black areas don't warrant interest as they're just air. The white/grey areas represent tissue of varying densities which is where cancer is normally found. With CT scans, you look through slices sequentially (easy on a computer - just scroll forwards/backwards with the mouse) and look for changing patterns or anything unusual.

I saw the white area as an alien, something akin to the standard Grey alien representation, with a mahoosive cranium. *shrug*

It took me about 10 seconds. At first I was trying to see a face in the central white area, and there is one if you look. Then the whole thing looks like a face too. But yeah, there's a gorilla there which shouldn't be.

The amount of time it takes to find things like that is very random. There's a game on my phone with similar "puzzles". Sometimes I find the card imediately, but other times I just can't see it. Until I can, and then it's obvious.

I did see it but then I was actively looking for it, plus I was doing it systematically so included the black areas.

Me too.

I saw it straight away, say about a second. Whether that was pure luck that my eye happened to rest on it as I began to scan the image, I can't say.

I couldn't see it, then read the thread, then properly looked. I've seen magic eyes quicker than I saw that.

More than 10 seconds. First I looked at the picture as a whole as I though you were talking about this kind of illusion, ie an image with an image.
Do you see a young woman or an old woman?
Image
Then I started looking for an actual gorilla, but I started at the top left and worked my way down.

That's what I thought too, hence me finding the strange faces first. People see faces everywhere.

With yours, I saw the young woman looking to the left first. Once you've seen one version, it's very hard to see the other one!

The linked article explains why.
