Motion control does have a market. A decent motion controller will make a Star wars game much more fun. Though the numbers of games that could really benefit must be low. It also has to be implement well to work.

It's a dust-collecting fad until it's combined with much more impressive visuals/surroundings in the future, and even then... Or if someone comes up with a stamina pill with no side effects or something ffs

I think that such a game would actually mean that you could legitimately get fit by playing.

Selling on eBay's a faff, easier to stick it in the attic. You can't even get decent money on store trade-ins now (they weren't the best to start with).

Yes but have you thought how playable the games will actually be if they are dependant on your internet connection?

No no I meant why they bought Gaikai, I expect it to be more than a little crap! Though possibly more useful than their rivals, we'll see... and I fully expect them to rip people off to recoup their investment.

Well I think that the cheapest solution is to stick an emulator chip inside. That will encourage upgrades. To do anything else might seriously harm uptake of the new console. While they may have thought that the numbers who do not connect to the internet insignificant they might be surprised in that many people might be put off by security scares. The way they are treating it makes it all a service for which they will get a monthly fee. That will enable people to play older games on the new console but would you be happy to pay £5 a month to play an PS3 game on your new console?

More alleged PS4 details, Nov release, paying to game online? http://www.computerandvideogames.com/39 ... 13-report/Am I reading that PS+ bit right? They'd need to be mad if they wanna start charging now, it's one of the few things [LIFTED] PSN has going for it, and you might as well buy an Xbox then.

PS+ is well worth the money and has been a bit of a success on the quiet. The numbers I've seen aren't XBL big but they're big enough. If they paywall online gaming they may face some criticism but if they have free online gaming and put all the other stuff that has been talked about - Playing PS3 games via Gaikai, uploading game footage to youtube, social features & etc - behind a paywall, you might be surprised how many people happily pay up. IMO the simple cost price is the kicker. Doesn't matter so much if online gaming is sub required or not - if it costs £400, It'll tank. Jon

I also think that the ongoing costs are crucial. You might consider the device expensive but if the device is cheaper but with a £20 monthly subscription for some additional content you might add that up over the five or six years that the console is active and it then adds up to be a very expensive device, plus you have to pay £50 for every game which might have zero resale value because of blocking by Sony, so £240 a year for five years plus the cost of the console and you still have to add extra for games. It can then become too expensive for many.

I agree so long as it doesn't become a BS Live-style pay to game online, can we interest you in some ads and rubbish films nonsense. Ideally, I'd like to see what you mentioned with Gaikai so long as it recognised games you'd already bought somehow. And they'd better not screw up previous PSN purchases, especially if they want people to make that 'cloud' shift for them...
