Nexus 4 Deals: Goodybags and Credit Cards VS Contract

Excellent cost analysis of buying outright, buying on the credit card and buying on the contract.

Interesting article.

At the moment I'm looking at the £10/month sim-ony deal from tesco mobile as being able to phone someone up if something goes wrong appeals to me more than pure online support only. Plus there's clubcard points and I can get cashback as well.

That's what I'm on, the only downside for me personally is picture messages.

Giffgaff has been working pretty well for me, but the lack of 3G coverage is starting to grate.

Ironically, I've never had better call coverage, but I don't use my phone for calling much.

I've just ordered it (with the £2.50 upgrade to double the internet allowance to 1GB/month). Better than I'm on with O2 for less than half the price. Not bad at all considering it's the same network.
A point they (O2) made when I phoned up to get my PAC code but they couldn't match the Tesco deal, their closest was £10.50 a month and only had 100MB of internet a month and they didn't mention the price would also be going up at the end of this month as well.

Don't really use picture messages any more and since the decision was made by the mobile industry to switch from counting a picture message as 3 or 4 normal texts and charge separately I'm loathe to use them. Better to work out how to send by e-mail or something instead.

Yeah, there's a couple of apps that get round it, but it's still an annoyance and takes the fun out of it.

It's staggering how often the mobile networks manage to claw defeat from the jaws of victory.

Yes, and how many actually send picture messages? I would imagine most use their phones to simply add it to their Facebook page.

Visual jokes, dear boy. And muppets sending saucy photos that will in no way be viewed by anyone else...

Well I never thought if that, but why not use email. The problem about saucy pics is that phones get stolen or hacked by News International.

Re email. I've no idea what my friends email addresses are, we text or phone

Also, that problem crops up when you're sending them to work colleagues too.

I've emailed stuff to myself, but that's it.

I talk and text close friends but also email as it is easier when they are at work.
