Well I've recently upgraded from an S2 to an S3 and saw an advert for the new trade in program

Basically you can trade in (through expansys) a old device from a list then either get a free tablet or a substantial chunk of money off a tablet or camera.

http://www.expansys.com/samsung-trade-in.aspx

For me the only ones that seem worth it on the tablet side are the Note 10.1 (@Amazon for £400 getting it for £195) and the Tab2 10.1 (@Amazon for £270, getting it for £90)

I was briefly tempted by the NX1000 4/3rds camera but all my lenses are Minolta AF mount having a Sony Alpha DSLR and I'd rather get a NEX camera so I can keep my set where possible and just take a converter

I've currently got an Advent Vega I'll be selling off as an old device so tempted by both, gf is interested too as we take the Vega on holiday to watch films/shows on and she'll no doubt be taking it when travelling with business for the same as well as browsing

Note 10.1
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Galaxy- ... 818&sr=8-1

Tab2 10.1
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B008 ... =computers

To throw in a curve ball the S2 can get £130ish depending on the condition which would is why those are the only really viable options, other than that I might just save the cash for now depending on suggestions

Personally, I'd go for the new Ativ, but that isn't on the list.

The Note can do split screen apps and the pen is pressure sensitive and fine, allowing proper writing in programs like S-Note (I've tried the S-Pen on the Ativ and it is very good, compared to a finger or those condom-pens you can buy for normal tablets). If using the pen for writing or drawing / painting appeals, then the Note 10.1 is the right device.

If the pen isn't so important to you, the Tab has a higher resolution display, although I believe it can't do the split-screen thing.

Went for the same but still not got a confirmation email or anything, if I don't get some news in the next few days it's just going to be traded in against a different tablet like the nexus 10

The tablet turned up today. I bought a warehouse deal from Amazon, so I saved about 100€ on the price. It has a scratch on the back, which:
A) if you didn't know it was there, you would never find
B) being a tablet and being lugged around, it would pick up a few scratches anyway and
C) I'm going to get a case for it anyway

So I don't really care, as long as it works.

If it had been a deep gouge, I would have probably sent it back.

So far I am impressed. Considering it is an Atom based device, it is relatively quick.

I didnt get any confirmation email at all, but I did get a package that included the envelope and sticker to send my old device back.

My 'fitted' jiffy bag arrived today, going to be sending it special delivery this weekend with a bit of extra padding in the bag for good measure

I sent it off via special delivery and two days later I had a card in my postbox from parcel force saying to collect a parcel from the local post office. I was totally mindblown by the turnaround speed.

Got my Tab2 10.1 yesterday

Overall pretty impressed, got another 48gb free Dropbox space (so I have over 120gb for the year now with another 48gb from my S3!) and the little widget apps are good, but as usual there aren't that many dedicated apps for tablets.

Found out it does charge over regular usb, just incredibly slowly, going to make sure I keep the adapter handy as it should charge my phone in no time!

Just need to sort out some media streaming apps to play from the home server, maybe a dock and a big microsd card to bulk up the storage, and most importantly.. a case!

Have fun with it, I'm loving my Samsung ATIV. They make great tablets.

I downloaded Fresh Paint yesterday, that shows of the S-Pen to its fullest. Wow, great fun, I'm no artist, but it shows how the pressure sensitivity can be put to good use - it is the same app Microsoft use in the Windows 8 adverts, where the little girl is drawing on the screen and then shows the printouts to her father over Skype...
