Yeah, I liked those until they ventured into space etc (also a problem with the recent cartoon show) - one of my favourite stories had Splinter sending them out to actually kill Shredder

The Crow is a 'reboot' I'm actually looking forward to - doesn't matter what they do really after the terrible sequels to the original

Well, there’s the Tintin movie, currently in production. I’m looking forward to it because, on paper at least, they seem to have most of the right people on board. Paul Jackson has shown that he can be sympathetic to the source. I’m not so sure about Spielberg, but if the Tintin film does well, he can forget about being involved with another Indiana Jones film.

Rebellion, who owns 2000 AD, keeps rumbling on about another Dredd film. I have little hope that they will get it together, but if they do, they had better do a better job than the previous Dredd film.

I was talking with a friend about this, and I do feel that Hollywood is doing two things at the moment: remakes and Marvel comics. The Marvel comic films are getting rather too much attention. Yes, it’s fun to see the characters “given flesh” but you have to admit that they have been hit or miss. I watched Iron Man for the first time over the weekend, and I liked it. I do think that if Robert Downey Jr wasn’t in the lead, it would have fallen flat. There are a few too many costumes super heroes at the moment. There are some comic book films I’d like to see made, but they come from this side of the Atlantic, so have little chance of seeing them.

Edgar P Jacob’s Blake and Mortimer series are really screaming out to be filmed. There has been a cartoon series, and I understand that a film of the Yellow M was planned and even cast (Rufus Sewell was to be Prof Mortimer), but it fell through. That will teach people to try to make a film of a comic series that’s not been fully translated into English. Blake and Mortimer is a bit of an oddity - set in England in the 1950’s in a kind of hot/cold war era with enough international intrigue and X-Files goings on to sink a battleship. I like them, and I think they would make a good film or TV series. I’m not sure though if the Americans would get it enough to make it viable.

Anyway, we ARE getting The Smurfs. And, apparently, Button Man is in the works. So it’s not all costumed super heroes.

The Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, which I've been reading recently, is an ongoing manga which would make a great film.



As the story involves a great deal of humour as well as horror it would seem ideal for a film version. However, checking on the US publishers site reveals the dreadful news:



No! Not a US film....Hollywood does not know how to 'do' Japanese Horror. I don't know whether I'm looking forward to it or not.....

LXG was completely awful. That said, Blade was distinctly not, so we'll see.

Loved the style of Blade - it was so good it even got away with a dodgy model of a building with a fly crawling over it (if you've got the DVD you can see what I mean)

Buggered if I can find it online, but it's like a day-to-night transition shot with what's supposed to be a skyscraper, however you can see what looks like a fat housefly near the top of the building IIRC...
