http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-co ... rt-1136025Really, who didn't see RT being a disappointment? Surprised at the alleged discount so quickly though.

Believe me, no. I've used it. All the good things about the Windows RT tablets now are to do with the hardware, which is quite nice. Putting it on cheaper tablet hardware isn't going to improve things. The software would still be a pile of crap if they gave it away.

WIth Android tablets making huge improvements over the last year Windows RT tablets have a lot to catch up with even before you consider iOS tablets.

The problem is, an Atom based Windows 8 tablet costs almost the same, has the same battery life, often better performance and can run desktop applications as well. Given that, why would you chose a crippled Windows RT device with an ARM processor?
That is why I went for the Samsung ATIV Smart PC, as opposed to the ATIV Tab.

The fact that they can run desktop apps is very handy for many. Though one thing that I have found with my iPad is that I do not really need desktop apps only need the data to be accessible by an app. One app that is a good example for me is Things, I have it on my iMacs and my iPhone and iPad, it syncs automatically between devices and so I do not necessarily need to use the desktop app on my tablet.
