I wonder if the date thingy is a result of the US occupation?

I have no idea. I suspect it's a random fact of language evolution, the same way Yoda at the end his verb puts.

Well Yoda is probably scripted by a German, as they put the verbs at the end IIRC.

Really? You think they use an entirely different script writer just for one character?
Generally, that's not how the studio system works. (8+)

The stock keyboard that has the functionality in 4.1? or Swype the (better) branded one?

I'm loving the virtual keyboard(s) in Windows 8 on my tablet. Being able to switch language and layout mid sentence is a dream, and MS changes the built-in spelling checker automatically as well. This is something I've dreamed of having for over a decade.

With iOS and Android, the keyboard is fixed, you can't have multiple layouts and languages, even though the keyboards are virtual, which means that the spelling checker and auto-complete are fixed in one language. When I spend half my time writing English and the other half German, it means that the first thing I've had to do with Android and iOS devices is turn off auto-complete and I generally turn off the spelling checker as well, because a complete page of underlined text is annoying!

I also find the thumb-layout keyboard is very interesting and is a good solution to the additional width of the widescreen tablets, but the best bit, if I am working at a desk, is being able to write with the digitiser-pen directly on the screen and have Windows convert my scrawl into text. It works amazingly well - once I worked out, I couldn't write English text, when the "keyboard" language was set to German! So far, it has been about 99.9% accurate.

I think it's the stock one. I installed a slim ROM as 4.2.2 hasn't been released for my phone yet but I didn't see anything about a swipe keyboard being bundled.

I've been installing the beta from the swype website, it's worth making an account as it tracks words and you can sync your library across devices IIRC so no need to learn new words (or contact names if you give it permission)

It's mother's day today, and my mum is soon to resume work part time, almost a year after being operated and treated for breast cancer.
