Gotcha. But it's no surprise I didn't know what you were on about, as that's not the UK way of writing the date. Mark

<EDDit>Bah! Way too slow, but I've left this here because I haz a cartoon in mine</EDDit> The Americans don't know how to write a date, so one of the ways they write 14/03/2013 is 3.14.2013. Take the first bit and you get 3.14. The rest, I hope, is obvious. ISO 8601 SO 8601 was published on 06/05/88 and most recently amended on 12/01/04.

ISO 8601 sorts correctly - newer dates are always bigger numbers or alphabetically higher. Practically the only time you actually see it is in file names, largely for that reason. I had to explain this to confused people a few times.

As several tweets I've seen point out, the UK actually celebrates Pi day on 22/7.

I much prefer the ISO system - it allows you to rapidly identify dates quickly and I now use it for important files.
ION: I'm at a tyre place and the [LIFTED] ahead of me is taking the piss, asking about ensuring she doesn't get marketing mail or calls, asking about tyre insurance and loads of crap despite not having yet paid.

Yeah, you can hear them miles away and they're supposed to only be used outside. Don't deafen yourself! Cool that it's still working. Don't start a mass panic!

Followed by the environmental health inspectors after reports of a siren?

Not sure how much longer I want to keep doing the office job all week then security at the weekend, the extra pocket money is nice, but it does take it out of me.
In brighter news I've volunteered to start coaching kids "soccer" which should be fun, like Football Manager in real life right; and instead of plays being worth 10 million they're just 10? They play games on a Saturday or Sunday morning though, which is just another reason to give up the security work for a while.
