Conservative MP Tim Loughton has said he will no longer respond to any communication from a constituent who called him a "Nazi".

In a Commons debate, the former children's minister said a constituent had "worked tirelessly to try to make my life hell".

I expect the Nasty Party would love to sack a lot of their constituents.

I think any person would want to "sack" the constituent

While I have some sympathy in this particular instance

Quote:
"Our constituents have the power to sack us at general elections - quite rightly so. We, alas, do not have the power to sack them," he told the Commons.

Remind me again, which one of those two groups is getting paid for it?

There was an MP in the 1997 election for Hove who resigned from parliament because he hated dealing with constituents problems, mainly housing. Though I think he left and got a nice juicy consultancy job as a result of his being a minister. Since most peoples problems are invariably a result of government policy they should expect it.

My customer facing role would also be much easier if I didn't have any customers to face. I think most of us can relate to that!

Although actually, we have been known to "sack" customers occasionally for being more of a PITA than they're worth to us. Unlike with MPs, they're free to take their custom elsewhere.

Yes but then when people are driven to complain to their MP they have probably been through the bureaucracy of some department or other before they contacted the MP. They may also have other problems such as mental health issues or alcohol or drug dependency to deal with. I suspect that the only thing that the average middle class voter sees his MP about is that the local council turned down his planning application for an extension.

No, it was about five years ago. I can't remember what the problem was now, i think it was that i couldn't get hold of anyone there and kept getting passed around. My MP wrote a letter to the chairman and his secretary sorted it all out for me.

I had a similar problem but I just rang head office. It was sorted pretty quick after that.
