School dinner staff have been banned from serving triangular flapjacks after one was thrown and hurt a pupil.

Caterers at Castle View School in Canvey Island, Essex, have been told instead to cut their flapjacks into squares or rectangles.

It could have been worse, ninja flapjack stars. This is an over reaction. Any food can be thrown. Will they ban chicken drumsticks or fish fingers if they were thrown?

Definitely ban Doritos, they could have your eye out. The only food they'll be allowed to eat is candy floss (not on sticks either). No wonder there's a child obesity crisis!

Do Doritos count as part of your five a day? ;)

Apart from the golden syrup flapjacks are high in fibre and so should be considered good. So now that triangular flapjacks are banned what about triangular pizza slices? They can be thrown the same way.

And the butter. LOTS of butter.
But apart from all the sugar and fat and potential stab injury, yeah they're healthy.

Look I only eat them! I do not make them. Though I do not eat them that often, so for me they are a treat.

The article has been changed since I posted it. There's now a video and even a 3 point guide to flapjacks. Well done, BBC.

However they have excised the bit in the article where the reported had said he'd asked about guidelines for pizza slices. Shame.
