I probably haven't uploaded it yet but it'll have to wait until the morning now as I really don't want to turn the PC back on tonight.

OK folks. another day, another update. http://www.johnvella.netai.netI think I've covered most of the points raised, but if you could have another look, if you get a spare minute, and let me know what you think that would be fantastic. Reminds me of my days as a programmer... not that my code had ANY bugs in it...! By the way, I can't remember who made the comment about not liking the rolling up and down-idness (made up word, I know!) of the pages, but I've looked at it again, and I do like it! Thanks again for all of your comments and advice/support everyone... I really do appreciate it! EDIT TO ADD: I've just looked at www.google.co.uk and they have some serious HTML and CSS errors on their page!

One thought. When looking at the packages you have a contact us button under each option. Why not make use of that to fill the form with the package details that they clicked on? Still loads of scrolling, have you considered doing each section on a different page? Also starter package has too much technical jargon, Wordpress or Joombla means nothing to many. You could have a expansion that has more technical detail.

The "rolling up and down-iness" (added to dictionary) is something very often seen on mobile sites where it usually works quite well. It loads pretty much all of the website in one fetch, and subsequent navigation is fast by flicking up and down or tapping on the menu bar. Often the sections are collapsible; Wikipedia is one example of a site like this.
Unfortunately, your site does not play well at all on my Gingerbread phone. At a readable zoom level, the 3 horizontal sections remain side by side off the screen rather than wrapping vertically. This means I have to scroll sideways, then down and back to the left. It's fiddly. Also the menu doesn't stay put, so I can't use it without scrolling up frantically for miles and miles.

I wanted to keep this as a one page site, but I am going to make a multi-page version, which I'll use n the portfoio. What kind of phone have you got Jason? I'm doing some mobile testing at the moment and, aside from the nav bar spreading onto two lines on some smaller phones, it all seems to be playing nice...

HTC Desire HD, latest possible updates. The phone isn't that old and was over £500 so not being replaced any time soon; I imagine there's quite a few similar models out there still on Gingerbread. I just tried it in Opera and that's also bad, but totally different to the default Android browser. The menu doesn't work at all - the various options all just reload the page and take you to the top, rather than taking you to the correct part without reloading. When you scroll, the menu still disappears off the top. It does wrap everything into one column though.

Okay one page does mean that people might print it for future reference, so try printing it or making a pdf version for printing.

So the primary nav is responsive, the 3 panels after the CTA aren't Also resizing the page does nasty things with the scrolling text, which is pretty unreadable with the colour choice. There are also CSS errors with unknown attributes/classes. JV, for the single/multi page one, you can make what is called a SPA (single page application) where you could load in the static pages with javascript, would keep it funky and also friendly for any printers/non js people I'd also move the contact buttons to the side of the page so they scroll with the user instead of taking up space

Just a thought. You mentioned getting rid of prices yet the top button still says prices. Can I suggest you rename it packages as that suits that section better, from single page to e-commerce? It might also be a good idea to mention time take to complete each stage I case people are planning and think that it can be done over night. It forces them to think ahead and that builds a buffer time wise if there are complications.

Evening all. Another day, another "sod it, I've started again!" update. The website is still http://www.johnvella.netai.net and, as ever, any feedback will be gratefully received. I will crack this bloody thing! I know there's a few bits to finish off, and some of the pages have a couple of CSS errors, but nothing that can't wait until tomorrow... Thanks again. everyone.

I clicked on one of the portfolio links and I was linked to http://error404.000webhost.com/? which is a hosting site.

Some of the alignment seems a bit off (on my iPhone 5, Safari), the table at the bottom of the homepage and the contact us forms all seem to be off a bit to the right. Other than that, I like this one too, will try and view it on my Mac later too.

None of the portfolio links go anywhere at the moment. I'll have a look at the iPhone 5 issue... It works fine on the iPhone 4 using Safari, so hmmm... OK, time to hoover the living room then back to it. Thanks everyone! Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2 EDIT TO ADD: I've adjusted the contact form and the button on the home page, (I know it looks like a table, but it does say click here, so it doesn't make any difference, does it?) and they both look fine on Mrs. V's iPhone 4. They were a bit skewed before, but should be fine now, Mr. Blue. Thanks for the feedback form test, Am. I got the message

I find the shadow text hard to read. Sorry.
My eyes are very sensitive to things being "out of focus" and the shadow effect makes the character unsharp, which causes my left eye to go haywire trying to focus properly.

No need to apologise, Dave. It's this sort of thing I'm after. The text shadow has been removed. For what it's worth, Mrs. V, who has experience teaching students with various "xias" (dyslexia, etc.) did mention that as well, and she commented that it's now easier to read. EDIT TO ADD: I've now put some content in the packages pages, though this will need to be proof-read, (I'll do that after the football) and I need to populate the still non-functional portfolio page, and create a new contact form, as I'm not happy eith the current one, but it's definitely getting there. By the way, if anyone is wondering why I'm constantly changing stuff, it's quite simple... if I'm not happy with the final result I can't expect anyone else to like it much either, and since I value the opinions of all, (OK, most!) of the people here, taking advantage of your insights and personal tastes seems the logical thing to do.
