Well I am another lifestyle cleaner. Though I have a wet and dry for cleaning the carpets rather than pay for a shampoo when I move. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk.

I have a red Hoover, but I don't know the model know and I can't be bothered walking the 15 feet or so to open the door and check. I know it's bagless and that it says 2000W on the case and I also know that it cleans the carpets, and also the kitchen, which has no carpet, but aside from that I know nothing about it and care even less.

I've got a dirt (ha!) cheap one I bought from Tesco when my proper one broke. I may buy a Dyson at one point - I was looking at the ones they do that are essentially a big hand vacuum with a very long tube.

I bought a refurbed second hand dyson animal with a one year warranty off eBay for a hundred quid and it's been great.

I got mine DC07, dirt cheap as well, and it needed an overhaul which cost about £60 but overall still a lot cheaper than a brand new Dyson.

My vax died and I wanted a dyson, but didn't have the funds for a new one. I figured that if they're supposed to be so well made, a second hand one would be fine. It's worked fine for just over a year now.

I'm not so sure they are that well made to be honest, I've had the upright DC14 for a couple of years and I'm on the second bin already - and I'm really careful with these things. A flaw in the tank design/manufacture meant that the power of the suction produced a crack in the bottom of the tank after about a year! To be fair though, it did have a 5-year warranty and they sent me a free replacement tank in the post, with no quibbles or fuss - which makes me think other people have possibly had the same issue? I'd think twice about getting another Dyson - good customer service, but build quality isn't up there with what you'd expect from a £200+ machine.

Assuming by 'ankle biter', you mean something like this: I have something along those lines. They're much easier to use than an upright.

We have three cleaning devices because, as you know, my da's a bit special... An upright roller thing that I've never used and that seems to need continual charging. An ankle biter, first one on the Argos page-type thing. And some sort of upright job.
I doubt I'll have a carpet in my house when I eventually move out...

I have hard floors throughout the ground floor and sometimes I wish for carpet. Plus if you have pets you end up with tumbleweeds of hair which are not fun when cleaning.

We had to replace the hose twice on our Dyson within the first two or three years because it split. The latest one has lasted well though.
