I doubt very much if Apple are involved. The Sky Go app is hardly a 'system seller'. If it was iPlayer, maybe. Either way, it require the assumption that Apple give enough of a crap about the UK to bother. Past evidence suggests this isn't generally the case.

+1. Many of the companies that have apps for iOS devices do so because they know that the customers will spend money, and that there are lot of them about. Android uses spend a fraction of what iOS users do on their devices and use their devices more. If you are a company looking for low hanging fruit then iOS has it.

Although phylogenetically close to felines and viverrids, hyenas are behaviourally and morphologically similar to canines in several aspects

I think that it is a matter of learning the devices quirks. Though each device has its merits.

That I need people with decent attention spans to buy and play strategy board games with.

Also that licenced strategy board games are laughably priced in general.

That is me out then, three second memory and all that.

I do agree about the prices but they are now a niche market. Have you signed up to boardgamegeek.com? They have a market place so you can occasionally get a game cheap there or they will tell you about those titles on eBay. If you register and fill in the details of what you are looking for then occasionally if someone is selling a game they will contact you, asking if you are still looking.

That's the problem with an "open" platform. There's so many potential variations of device out there that you can't code for them all so a lot of popular devices will end up losing out

Eva Mendes was re dubbed in a movie because she did not sound intelligent enough. Worst of all it was a Steven Seagall movie.

That the Tunein Radio app update is actually an improvement than the usual backward step :o

I thought that I would try the iPhone app again and yes it is an improvement, I have my favourites previously set up and it made switching easy.

A few things today, mostly to do with the metal street signs I have been photographing.

I’ve been communicating with the owner of the foundry that took over from the original Royal Label Factory (they still use the name). He tells me that the letterforms would have been cut out by hand before aluminium casts were made. This explains why they look warped and rubbery - basically a bloke with a hack saw made them. So the distortion is not part of the mould making process, but part of the hand crafting of the letterforms.

Secondly, the RLF made lot of pre Warboys signs ( http://www.roadsuk.com/gallery/oldsigns/pre-warboys/ ) - and they destroyed the wooden forms for those pre 1998.

Thirdly, the RLF signs were cast very thin, so they are prone to breakage. That said, the majority of the ones in Chelmsford are very well preserved, and it’s the mounts that are in worse shape than the signs themselves - nothing a scrub and a lick of paint can’t fix.

They are going to look to see if they have any Chelmsford lettering left over. I expect, though, that it’s gone.
