Test Match Special - Michael Vaughan trying to convince Jonathan 'Aggers' Agnew to get a tattoo . That and the suggestions for presents which Aggers could bring his disgruntled wife back from New Zealand. Most popular suggestion so far? ' A Sheep'. Looking bleak for England mind. Now there's a lone trumpeter playing James Bond themes. He's just doing 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. He's fantastically good.

Was just listening to.. 'In The Event of Moon Disaster' on Radio 4 (the Archive on 4 strand).
A show where journalist Daniel Finkelstein managed to get hold of a bunch of 'contingency' speeches that never had to be given - The speech Nixon had planned if Armstrong & Aldren had become stranded on the moon, Eisenhower's speech if the D-Day landing had been a failure, David Milliband's speech had he won the election for the leadership of the labour party and etc. - and had them performed by voice impersonators in the style of the relevant historical figure.
Odd but strangely compelling. I assume it'll be on iPlayer at some point.

The Decemberists - The Crane Wife. I first heard the opening track about 5-6 weeks ago. It was the final track played at the funeral for the wife of one of my best friends who had died from a brain tumour at the age of 32. I've only just found myself in a place where I could actually listen to it again. http://open.spotify.com/track/5McV9ILXXi4K42sNCTua8N

It is and always has been one of my favourite songs, That said, I hope it's not presumptuous or offensive to say this, a surprising choice to play at a wife's funeral, it being about what I've always taken it to be, rueful regret about marrying someone.
