I think Four's had so many hits with 'desperate' (broad spectrum) characters that just about anything will be passed off as such now.

Plus it is relatively cheap to make. That is the prime reason for such programmes.

Being as I currently have no job and can't afford to leave my teenhood bedroom in my parents house in case I spend anything, I watched this on 4oD last night. Quite interesting from the bloke's standpoint as I could identify with a lot of what was causing him a problem. If it wasn't for my tendency to flirt without realising I'm doing it, my skill at understanding what other people are thinking a lot of the time and a fair amount of luck - I could've been in the same situation as him. Watching him go through his stuff and trying to work it out was fascinating. Also, his surrogate - whilst not attractive to me in the slightest - seemed like she was genuinely into her work and really cared about the people she was helping. I know in England we have a tendency to scepticism, but I really thought that she was honest and open about it.

The girl was a waste of space. BUT, did further corroborate some of my informal research data on the way girls work.
