Pretty cool. Like 386s build largely from valves inside a network of 27 Borg cubes, in the 1950s.

Quote:
Each of the 27 computers that made up the system was a dual core 32 bit CPU made of 60,000 vacuum tubes 175,000 diodes, and 12,000 of those newfangled transistors. Memory: 256k of magnetic core RAM (invented for this project) clocking in every 6 microseconds. These things weighed 300 tons, consumed 3 megawatts of electrical power and ran a blistering 75,000 operations per second.

They directed military drones in real time to their targets. In the 1950s.

Thanks for that, fascinating article about a fascinating subject I'd never even heard of!

If you scan down to the top of the Curiousity you can see how much crud lands on it.

The Most Astonishing Cosplay at Wondercon 2013

Batgirl in the first picture is worthy of her own post in the redhead thread.

Well, if they mean astonishingly average, then they're right on the money.
Some terrible photos there too.

I'm not sure just wearing a UK police woman's uniform counts as cosplay, even if you are Japanese. A lot of them are pretty iffy - some of them I can't even tell which character they're supposed to be.

I think that is supposed to be Amy Pond's character.

Yes most were average, and the blogger did say that he was a lousy photographer. What appealed to me were the novelty of the costumes.

My favourite
