Pity she didn't stop the breaking of things there, and then hand power over to someone else.
Union membership is still a good thing, IMHO.

Or privatising everything in sight. Privatised gas, water, electricity - that's really working out so well. It's all owned by the blooming French, now. And don't get me started on the railways... :?

He's right, she did.
The unions were way to powerful and disruptive, and she broke them. The public knew she was right. That's why Labour couldn't get reelected until they'd purged the loony union left from their leadership.

I don't know what she was thinking with the poll tax though.

the banks were not as powerful, private industry was not as powerful, nationalised industry never stood a chance
now we have the bitches legacy, hope you can afford it as i cant ...

I'm from a small mining village 7 miles north of Doncaster. I don't think I need to add anything further to this thread.

...and I'm from one a few miles south of Doncaster. My dad was a miner and mum ran the canteen. Nuff said.

I'm from a small village less than 7 miles from three mining villages near Doncaster. I can still see what she did was needed.

He was worse. She stood up and challenged people when they had a different view to her. Blair just tired to use his PR machine to mock them so people wouldn't listen. He couldn't win a serious debate if his life depended on it.

I wonder if people will say such nice things in public about you when you die?

Exactly, the fact that we have such low union membership is one reason why we are not as successful as Germany. She was far too adversarial to be a good influence. We have never returned to full employment thanks to her policies.

My commiserations to Satan who has to put up with her now.

She's already shut 40 furnaces and put 4000 imps out of work...

I'm surprised by this. Given your normal hateful, bitter, xenophobic right-wing ranting I'd have thought you'd have been a great fan of Thatcher.

I live in South Wales. Firstly, you can imagine the general opinion about Thatcher in these parts. Secondly, thank Christ I live under a Labour government which is actually left-leaning and gives a [LIFTED] about the little people.
