TBH I hadn't really paid much attention to the lyrics, but I take your point. My understanding is that it was largely chosen as it was a favourite track for both of them, rather than for the express meaning of the lyrics.

The cheapo copy version of the intro of "National Anthem" by Lana Del Rey that the BBC use in this season's Masterchef.

Too close to be anything other than a copy, not close enough to not be grating, they should have just bought the rights to the real one.
