It also annoys me immensely that O2 are trying to charge so much for tethering. Data is data after all and I signed up for UNLIMITED data with my 3G. I can just about see the justification for a fair use policy but charging so much extra when the data is flowing to my mac book just seems money grabbing.

It does sound rather bogus. If you already have unlimited data, why should it make any difference between the 'phone or a machine connected to the 'phone I don't know - although I guess with the 'phone you are not going to be downloading large patches or reading large web pages as quickly, less data as you can't run Flash, HD streaming etc...

Limiting "unlimited" through the device - you can't get through as much data on the 'phone alone, as you could on a PC connected to the 'phone.

I've never been able to use predictive text. It is the first thing I turn off on any 'phone.

I used to be able to type a complete 140 character SMS in under a minute, but with predictive text, I would need about half an hour! :D

The biggest problem with predictive text is that it breaks the creative flow / concentration. You know what you want to say, but having lists of random words, usually bearing no relation to the word I actually want to type, just slows me down and makes me forget what I was trying to type.

Which is why a qwerty keyboard works so well, even on a small device like the iphone. We have all been using it for so long it is no longer something that most of us need to think about. Our fingers naturally fall at approximately the correct key. I only wish the keyboard on my mac was as clever as that on my phone. My touch typing would improve dramatically.
I'm kind of surprised that auto correct isn't available on my desktop.

Hmm, talking hardware with my new boss this week... If I get a company CrackBerry, the iPhone will be on hold until my O2 contract runs out! I don't want to be running round with 3 'phones for a year... :?
