Nail varnish remover might also work.

Generally speaking, if it uses Acetone you wouldn't want to put it on anything plastic as it'll make it go brittle and opaque. A better bet is often alcohol (meths or IPA (as in iso-propyl alcohol, not the type of beer)) but again it depends on the plastic. Warm water is also good but means you have to dismantle the case which was the cause of the irritation in the first place.

It's apparently kind of hard to find acetone based nail varnish remover these days. Before anyone gets ideas, you can use it to remove dried superglue from surfaces or clothes, which is the problem I had. Looked all over the place, couldn't find any.

Jon

Could it be because acetone can be used for terrorist weapon making?

It's rather useful is washing up cocaine to make crack as well (apparently)

I can honestly say that in all the time I've been working (I work in a lab and handle quite a lot of the ordering) I've never had to sign a waiver to indemnify a supplier against using Acetone in weapons manufacture. I have for various other things.

Something that I learnt today! Well wouldn't it be useful to know who is ordering large scale acetone rather than removing it from stores?

We've just got to "make do". Yeah, OK. It's not like we haven't already had our staff numbers cut back so much that someone chucking a sickie prevents us from running a full service! Frikkin morons.

We're gonna have to do this as well with all of the cuts in the NHS. In the end, everyone suffers and no one truly benefits. Except those higher up from us "plebs".

I've actually asked him to close his mouth repeatedly, and it's got to the point where I've said it in front of others while he was there, making a joke of it. They've even mentioned it to him and he still continues

My dad is worse. He makes hog noises whilst eating. It used to be in private, now occurs in public and isn't subtle.

By the time I get an appointment for this done I'll be right as rain.
What a waste of time and money

Not sure where you're based but if in UK you may not get a note unless you were seen by a doctor. It's fraudulent unless you assessed the patient at the time. If you've been off work for less than a week, I print out a page from direct.gov, and a scrawled note to say we cannot provide a note like this. If they insist, I ask them where to send an invoice to.

My colleague (who works full time, I'm merely term time) has clearly done sweet FA over the last two weeks.
Went into work to collect some essays for marking, ended up cleaning a studio, bleaching photo trays, scrubbing developing pots with bleach.
He's tidied his desk.

Apparently I'm responsible for the photo side of things, which is fair enough, but he's done [LIFTED] all with the media gear that came back from the dartmoor trip.
It's still all sat out in a room waiting to be put away.
And I know that when I see him, it'll somehow turned round to be my fault.
GRAAHHHHH

Oh FFS. Normally I order stuff and given that it arrives sometime Mon-Fri, I have it delivered to work. This week, I ordered some stuff from Amazon and it's gonna get delivered by APLE. On Saturday. When the surgery's shut! If I'd known it was gonna arrive on Saturday, I'd have had it sent to my home address.

Got a call about an hour ago. There was a software upgrade to a vital server last night, and it didn't go to plan. They were also having issues reverting back to the previous version. Without this server running they were unable to lift blocks on the route that were applied for other works, meaning trains would have to run in a degraded mode and a much lower speed resulting in huge delays.
The best bit? Because it was such a simple job the guy in charge decided he was much better off in bed in France with his phone switched off.

Thankfully the tech managed to fix it, but I am now awake and not too happy.

Why do people very often think that The Evil Dead is a comedy film?
Have they never actually seen it?!?
I know the sequel was a pseudo remake and that added lots of humour to the plot but the first film IS NOT a comedy!
People should understand this but clearly I'm in the wrong.

That's better than an office full of people who have never heard of it! :(

One girl thought GI Joe 2 was 'complicated'... because she hasn't watched the original.

To be fair, it was released in 1981 and it doesn't get very many airings on TV and also isn't very well regarded outside horror film fans/film fans in general.
Which is why I find it so surprising that the guy I was talking to about it in work was so adamant that it was a comedy.
It just baffled me and still does.
