Why do people very often think that The Evil Dead is a comedy film?
Have they never actually seen it?!?
I know the sequel was a pseudo remake and that added lots of humour to the plot but the first film IS NOT a comedy!
People should understand this but clearly I'm in the wrong.

That's better than an office full of people who have never heard of it! :(
To be fair, it was released in 1981 and it doesn't get very many airings on TV and also isn't very well regarded outside horror film fans/film fans in general.
Which is why I find it so surprising that the guy I was talking to about it in work was so adamant that it was a comedy.
It just baffled me and still does.

It's got better and better. I found the accents very distracting at first. Only a few of us have accents down here and those that do have Dorset accents, not Bristol ones.

Accents are always a tough one. Most actors used to just have a stock "country" accent, which was colloquially known as Momerset (probably not too dissimilar from the Bristol one, frankly). They've got better over the past few years, to the point where the keen listener can identify the accent as being from a distinct location. I've noticed a distinct upsurge in East Anglian twangs on radio plays, for example.

I feel like most people on TV have a kind of east end/ essexy accent, very unpleasant. Kids in Bath sounded like that too, dropping half the consonants as they spoke.

It's really refreshing to hear some regional accents especially Scottish (and also Brian Cox :D)

Facebook seems to be catching up with twitter in its politicisation. I'd be the first to admit I have a pretty diverse bunch of acquaintances, but there's always been common ground and anything we disagree on has been discussed and either agreed to disagree or whatever. That used to stay out of Facebook and it was hey look at what I did or my kid threw up or whatever. Now I have a third of my friends decrying thatcher, a third being hippies and moaning about wildlife, farming and big business, a third moaning about what a bad lot farmers have, a third moaning about welfare cuts and a third moaning about public sector cuts. And another third moaning about immigrants. Not to mention all of them moaning about declining maths skills.

You would say that. You're part of the 1% who's not going down that road.

Quick rant :

People who own convertible cars who drive round with the hood up when it's warm and there's not a cloud in the sky. You've wasted thousands of pounds you morons.

Haha, I used to think like you then met my wife who had an mx5. If it hasn't been for that, I'd probably still think it.

To be fair, I test drove an MX-5 and if you're a bloke that's any sort of height at all, you're more in than under the roof when it's up and more looking over rather than through the windscreen when it's down. I could see how someone might be put off by that.
