Old guy reversed into me in a carpark on Friday afternoon. Gave me a wrong phone number but asked me to call him with the quote for the work instead of going through insurance companies. Called him yesterday and again today, gave him all 3 of my phone numbers but he hasn't called back. Calling him again this evening and if still no joy I'm calling my insurance company tomorrow. Two wasted days when I could have had parts on the way!

Did you get his car registration number? If not then I think you might have been conned. If you cannot get in touch with him there may be no way that his insurer will pay for your damage and it will either be you that has to pay for it out of your pocket or your insurer and then you lose any no claims bonus.

Nope it's all good. Got his license plate number, name and address. I already reported it to my insurers along with the details of the witness, insurance company have checked that he's insured, I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt....for now!

Well as long as you have his registration number you could be okay. I was once hit by a motorist. I got his number and reported it to the police. When they investigated it, it turned out that the car was registered to an 80 year old man who lived in kent and had never driven in London. The genuine car was a different colour as well. So I had been hit by a clone. The police never found the driver that hit me. It is just something to consider.

Should it matter if they can find the other driver or not? Your contract is with your insurance company, not with the insurance company of the other driver. Especially if you have comprehensive cover, whether your insurance company can find someone to reclaim their loss from is their problem, not yours.

If you lose your no claims bonus then it becomes your problem as well. I guess that your insurer could always claim from the Motor Insurers Bureau if there is no insurance coverage.

Some companies don't hit you with the loss of no claims bonus if an uninsured driver hits you. I know Direct line make a big thing of it in there adverts.
I always pay extra for protected no claims, just in case.

Now all phones have camera's I take a number of snaps - where it happened, the Reg of the car, photo of the driver (& Any witnesses / passengers). I used to keep a disposable camera in the car in the "old days"

I once had a truck firm deny they had been in an area where they hit me until I sent them a photo of the truck and the driver

Yes that is brilliant advice. Photograph everything and you have protected yourself as much as possible. It is amazing what people will try and get away with if they think that they can.

Yep, I photographed everything, but he settled today and had the cash waiting for me when I got there on my way home this evening. Really nice old gent, genuinely concerned about me, especially when he found out about the radiotherapy, we talked a bit about the fight against cancer and he told me that his wife had passed away two weeks ago, losing her battle :-(

Bought a Potato Daulphinoise from Tesco's Finest range at the weekend, after cooking it and dishing it out onto my plate, something blue caught my eye...

Image

Looks like a latex material, like those thin rubber gloves you get. Needless to say, I didn't eat any tea tonight - put me right off I can tell you! Now, need to find a complaints email address for Tesco.

It is why catering plasters are blue. At least you can identify non organic items.

Dean Saunders, 48, could return to Doncaster as manager after his sacking by relegated Wolves on Tuesday.

Noooooooo, no, no, no. P!ss off Saunders, you jumped ship and were happy to leave us in the lurch, before you failed so spectacularly at Wolves.

Go and leech off someone else!
