We have a new boy on the team. I say boy as he's only 22. He looks like a young Boris Johnson.

But does he sound like a young Boris Johnson?

The wife's grandad is probably going to die in the next few days. But she's got a virus so can't go to see him in hospital.

Blimey, it's like you suspected. Best of luck, any of the stuff you've posted has shown you've got talent, so I'm sure you'll be okay.

I'm a Graphic Designer - print and web.

I work - or rather worked - in a design/advertising company in Manchester. I'll be looking at finding something in a similar field in the Manchester, or North West area. First, I need to get my portfolio up to date, only trouble is they gave us no real notice and now the administrators have taken over we have limited access to the office. We're allowed in, under supervision, on Monday - so I'll need to at least take a backup of the server where all our work is stored (the boss and administrators have agreed to this). Not sure a day is long enough, there's about 1.5Tb to copy and all 4 designers want a separate copy - don't think it's achievable but we'll see.

I bought a new Macbook in January for home use, but couldn't afford Adobe CS6 yet, so not even sure how I'll be able to read the files on the backup, but that's another problem for later on, need to tackle a backup first.

It's all a bit raw at the moment - don't want to go into too much detail on a public forum, but I've worked there for over 18 years and we get no official notice, no full wage for this month and no redundancy. I expected more from my employer after all this time. I'm not angry, strangely, more like disappointed really.

We've all filled in RP1 forms to claim redundancy, notice pay, holiday pay and arrears of pay from The National Insurance Fund (never heard about this before). But that can take up to 10 weeks to come through, and I'm sure it won't be straightforward.

So, all in all, it's a bit sh!t really. Still, I'm not going to get all biter about it - it is what it is, and hopefully I'll get some money back from the government eventually. This next week will be busy and probably stressful, so I'm going to take a break from the forums and social media for now.

Won't the government give you any money as redundancy seeing add the company went bust?

Good luck. I know how [LIFTED] it feels. I was laid of in 2009 after being on half pay for eleven months. It took six months to get a new job.

Yeah, that's what the RP1 forms were for - Redundancy Payments Service, which claims for payments from the National Insurance Fund (basically, the government!). The company is in insolvency until the end of May, then will go into liquidation - until then these forms can't be sent off apparently. After that, it can take up to 6 weeks after that, so realistically we're looking at up to 10 weeks before any money comes our way.

What I can't get my head round is how they're allowed to pay us around half our salary this month, is that legal? Presumably it is, they will have had expert advice so will have to do things by the book. Not necessarily in our interests but completely legal.
