What do our, er, four or so ladies prefer?

I shave once a week if I can help it - light-coloured face fuzz and an Ulster complexion FTW!

Gah! Stupid iphone reloaded this page whilst I had typed a reply and went to grab some images.

Basically I think I look better with a beard than without. Makes me more mature and have noticed a change in behaviour with patients more likely to trust me with a beard. Some girls like it and some hate it.

I tried stubble like this and despite shaving around it so it looks sculpted, it still looked like stubble. I would get told off by consultants.

So now it looks more like this. Started growing it slightly longer when I was in a job where all the other guys decided to grow beards for a laugh. Decided to stick with the look.

Sometimes I'll shave it off completely, but in winter it feels great. Like an extra layer of insulation against the elements. Any longer and I'd probably look like a terrorist.

I need to shave at least once a day. Otherwise I look like a Wanted poster very rapidly. Though I get the designer stubble look if I skip an evening shave. I think that the ladies prefer clean shaven.

Depends entirely on the face! I don't (as a rule) like a hairy face, I'm not that keen on hairy generally, stubble can be really irritating as I'm quite fair and sensitively skinned, there are people I like it on (Jeff Goldblum being the immediate example) but generally I'm a 'no' to hairy!

A goatee is only really bad if combined with a pony tail.

My thoughts were always that women prefer potential dates clean shaven and men they date with facial hair. Who knows ?

I shave every day because two days of stubble is enough to drive me nuts when I'm trying to sleep (makes my face itch against the pillow). Couldn't give a monkeys whether it makes me more attractive, any woman shallow enough to judge on that can beggar off :D.

That happens to me, though luckily I can fall asleep within seconds, so that does not bother me too much, unless I wake up and cannot get back to sleep.

Don't worry about it, you look like a most wanted poster anyway.

I have a goatee, I can't have a full beard, because i had a birthmark removed on my right cheek and it has left a 4cm x 1cm scar, where no hair grows.

My fiance doesn't normally like facial hair (or hairy men), but she flipped out when I shaved mine off and said she would leave me, if I ever did that again! Women!

Clean shaven here. Once a day. Sometimes leave it for two over the weekend but I usually regret it.

A friend of mines wife had pretty much the same reaction when he was going shave his beard off. Might have something to do with him looking like he's about 12 without it.

I agree. I look like one of the FBI most wanted after a few hours.

I also sport a superbly stylish goatee. Except I don't trim it often, so right now you'd have to examine fairly closely to see that the fuzz on my cheeks is shorter than that on my chin
Quote:
Goatees have been associated with evil for quite some time now, and it’s all because of one character: Evil Spock from Star Trek’s famous “Mirror, Mirror” episode.

 :ugeek:

Basically I just do whatever the most important girl in my life prefers. Nobody else's opinion really matters, provided there aren't health and safety issues at work.

I used to have full face fuzz because I truly hate shaving, but girlfriend mk2 told me to shave it off immediately when she first saw me. She was very firm about it! It didn't really grow when I was younger, so with girlfriend mk1 it wasn't an issue. Later on, girlfriend mk3 told me I looked like a giant baby with no facial fur and suggested the goatee, which she kindly drew on my face with eye-liner. Another friend of the female species later said it was the best thing GF mk2 had ever done, so I kept it.

Now I've gone grey, I'm wondering if perhaps I should try something else. I really, really liked this pulled from the same article:
Quote:
It looks like a series of fractals, that might, upon closer inspection, spin off into an infinite number of smaller, even more insane beards.

I'm resisting the urge to over-analise it...
