On twitter, I've noticed a raft of new reports of Path uploading user's Contacts without their consent to their servers and using them to spam people:

I use Facebook and Twitter but prefer twitter for posting things although I like to be able to share pictures on Facebook. A lot of my family are on there so it's instant contact and it's actually brought us closer as they all live miles away.

I think I could walk away from FaceBook if certain friends and family weren’t on there, and they are being kept their by their friends, clubs & activities. There’s the rub - FaceBook kind of chains you to itself by peer pressure.

I do get annoyed when friends and family act astonished when I tell them I'm not on facebook, what with me being the resident geek. They have my email address, my home address and my mobile number. If they want to reach me and they can't quite manage to try something other than fb, then it probably isn't all that important; and I'm grateful for the peace and quiet.

I imagine it's much easier ignoring facebook if you've avoided it from the outset. 8-)

It does bug me when people aren't on anything.

I hate making phone calls or paying postage.

Yes but you can get call deals with landlines and inclusive minutes with mobile contracts.

In our household, only the youngest daughter is on Facebook. The oldest daughter won't touch social networks with a barge pole, my fiance doesn't trust the Internet and thinks people have to have taken leave of their senses in order to post anything on the Internet.

Not a bad attitude really. At least I know that there are no incriminating photos of me out there.

My wife uses it, and occasionally says something like "Hey, did you know Eileen is pregnant again?", I'm like "who is Eileen?"

Some couple we met on holiday more than a decade ago, who live 600 miles away and we've never met or spoken to since. Why would I care?

Probably a good attitude. People we know with kids post stuff on FaceBook that I’d never post if I had kids. I’d want their privacy protected, and my family’s privacy protected too. Sure, the odd family photo would go up, but not every day or so.

Yes but you can get call deals with landlines and inclusive minutes with mobile contracts.

Which cost a lot of money. My mobile costs me about £5 every 5 years because I only really use IM. What's the cheapest contract..?

That is a very different matter. I assumed that you used it more than that.

I use it constantly, to do free stuff like IM and reading the forums...

So do you use it over wifi? That would explain a lot.

I think if Whatsapp did a Windows desktop client, I may be tempted to ditch facebook.
Actually, probably not, but I would use it much less often.
