How effing stupid must the bill be if they have to ask the opposition to outvote their coalition partners to get it through for them? And if they do, what the effing point of an opposition anyway? If they can just shake hands on a bill passing in this way, what the hell is the point of parliament at all?

If I was labour I'd say yes then vote no. Force a vote of no confidence and see what happens. I would imagine there's a fair number of libdem MPs who want out of the whole sorry mess, and a fair number of tories who would vote that way to spite Cameron.

Actually this looks like a disaster in waiting. The fact that the secret services already knew so much about him and that still did not save this soldier means the rest of us have to sacrifice all our liberties to deal with incompetence in the secret services. If they want it so much make sure that all ministers browser histories are published daily.

I find it rather sickening that the govt uses this poor soldiers death as an excuse to try and force this bill through.

Had MI5 done their work properly then this death may have been avoided.

If this bill becomes law then how can we lecture other counties - Iran, N.Korea - on peoples freedoms?

The problem is that there is no one else who looks like a credible alternative hence UKIP's progress. There is a famous quote saying if you are willing to sacrifice liberty for security, then you do not deserve either. I cannot remember who though.

Thanks I was was not sure who said it.

Interestingly MI5 knew about him. Since he was considered a minor risk why do they need my internet data to track this scrote? when they could apply for a warrant to track this specific person.

Never thought I'd say this in public:

I'm with the Lib Dems on this one.

Actually it is a sign that you are pragmatic and willing to accept the right solution no matter who suggests it. I agree as well, but they are tarnished for now.
