Well heres a rather obscure question (and my first for a while, darn those GCSE's, just one damn big excuse to play computer games for study leave ) infact it can wait till the next paragraph, this one seems to be full... If you were buying a hip-flask, which would be preferable - stainless steel with a matt chrome finish or a pewter one? I am just in the mood to buy one, which would no doubt be used (so which one would poison me less? ), and would be best if it fits in a suit pocket (ooo suits lol) so which is best? (polll) Linkys: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/6oz-Hip-Flask-Birthday-Retirement-Message-engraved-free_W0QQitemZ250450238890http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEWTER-HIP-FLASK-ENGRAVED-PERSONALISED-FREE-IN-GIFT-BOX_W0QQitemZ370209044039The below one is just polished... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PERSONALISED-POLISHED-6oz-HIPFLASK-ENGRAVED-FREE_W0QQitemZ140307476711

I know pewter's a hassle to keep polished. Stainless might have the upper hand in that regard. Otherwise, meh.

I don't like the last one so either the SS or pewter. I'd need to see them in the flesh but I'd lean towards the SS one. The pewter one I'd buy for show only.

Hypothetically, can we easily afford all three, our do we answer based on real life cash flow?

That depends, does drinking out of a pie constitute a reliable solution? Or does this need to be based upon realistic assumptions, hmm SO hard buying anything on eBay at the moment, too much choice..

Are you actually planning to use it for keeping alcohol in? If so you need to be a lot more careful with your materials as most metals will alter the flavour. A quick search of the internet should bring up something more specific.

Steel one if your going to take it to the pub. If you put pewter in a pool of cider the cider will corrode it...It's what happened to one of my pewter mugs Pewter feels better to drink from IMO, though I've only ever drank ale from pewter AND stainless steal, I drink rum from my hip flask when I take it about with me.
