Well, complexity is the friend of overcharging and tax avoidance amongst other things.
MIght be one of the reasons the energy suppliers are trying to head of calls for gas and electricity to be sold with a single price like petrol.

If we had a racketeering law that the public could use as a legal remedy it might end the situation. I hate standing charges on all utilities as these are holdover from national monopolies, and allowed minimal prices on usage, but these are no longer monopolies so should charge per unit even if the slope of their prices were all different it make it easier to work out which is the cheapest. It is impossible without a online comparison sites.

[LIFTED] FIFA 13. I know, just a game right? But nevertheless it couldn't be more frustrating. It goes something like this 1) get in a good scoring position, 2) pull the trigger (literally and metaphorically) and the 3) have the ball nicked from under my feet. Seriously. Every. Single. Time.

My eldest has been "expressing his displeasure" at that very same issue. It's quite funny to hear a twelve year old wail "referee!?" at the screen.

UPS the feckers. Just bought something off egay. Got delivered via UPS. Had asked the seller to mark it as "Deliver to addressee only". UPS, being the typical muppets, delivered it to the neighbours. These are the same neighbours who've previously accepted my deliveries from couriers and then opened the box or denied receipt. This has led me to asking people to ensure "Deliver to addresse only" is on all parcels and it's been fine so far (even with UPS) until today.

Just went round but they appear not to be in so will try again later.

Just report it as missing and get them to reimburse you for a replacement. If you clearly marked it addressee only then they are in the wrong.

Can't you get things delivered to work, family or a friend instead?

I normally do but this seller posts to verified addresses only (ie where there's a credit/debit card attached) which my workplace is not.

Thankfully the neighbour handed it over untainted when I knocked on his door last night.

It is clear that private couriers are as bad as publicly owned Royal Mail. Considering the volume of stuff that is delivered by Royal Mail I am happy with them. I have had stuff dropped all over the place even though I was in!

A lot of delivery drivers are self employed and are paid per delivery, they don't get paid if it goes back to the depot for collection.
Therefore they deliver to neighbours or drop it over a fence and fake a sig so they get paid.

TBH in my experience, RM have been awesome. The depot's only around the corner so easy to go pick things up. They do parcel deliveries between 8 and 10am round here. I'd happily use RM over any courier (with the exception of DPD who text me and also allow me to change dates/times to suit via text).

A big honking +1 about RM here. My heart sinks whenever a courier has been used.
Not as close to the depot as I used to be but it's still easy to get to and is open late on Wednesday (till 8pm) as well.
