An 84-year-old Florida woman has won the largest unshared jackpot in US lottery history - a prize of $590m (£383m).

Mother of four Gloria MacKenzie, who retired to Florida from Maine, bought the ticket in Zephyrhills on 18 May.

She opted to take a single lump sum of about $370m rather than the full amount spread over 30 years.

I bet she did!

Shame she'd too old to get decades of use out of it, but she'll have a good last few years and set her family up for life.

This is brilliant.
I hope she doesn't turn out to be one of those people whose life is ruined because she has the money.

I think it might create problems for the son. He will get a lump sum now and potentially another when his mother dies. He will be the target of many trying to part him from some of his money.

It should end all their monetary problems for a very long time, which is very good. Though you do hear of the problems that big lottery winners suffer. I do wish them all well.

I think people with these problem probably had problems before they won the money only you don't here about them as they were not "famous"

It was more about the begging letters and gold diggers. That was my prime concern. I still do the lottery in the hope that I win.
