If the new Intel chips do half of what they say power-wise I'm getting a new laptop - sick of charging even the extended battery I've got :(

It things like screens that gobble power. So even if the new intel chips are remarkably efficient which they probably are, it will be a small share of what else gobbles the battery power.

LED screen and an SSD might help though, I'll await the reviews anyhow.

Yes SSD will help as will OLED screens but they are both still relatively expensive.

Power savings on the laptop parts look promising. Intel say Ultrabooks will have 8 hours minimum idle. Graphics is a lot better too, making games playable.

It doesn't look so good with the most powerful chips though, running hotter and slower than the early samples.

If you want to future proof your machine as long as possible then you opt for the more powerful option.

That I'm getting lumbered with the displacement tomorrow.
I'm praying to a god I don't believe in that there's not going to be much cement contamination when we drill out the casing shoe.

There were rumours of the BOP's failing their pressure test this morning. I hope they fail in a big way so they have to be pulled up from the sea bed. That would be at least a 72 hour round trip.

What would you do while waiting for that to be completed?

Sit in the service office office on the rig being paid to do almost nothing.
Annoyingly it sounds like it's just passed, so my last few days here will be busy.

The new Mac Pro, and how many organs I can survive without in order to afford one at the end of the year.
