Did we have a chocolate poll (Kit Kats etc)? We're doing one in work after I saw Richard Osman write about one he did

Man of Steel spoilers. More specifically, how to avoid them until after I see the film on Monday.

^^^I've been trying to do the same. Mainly avoiding trailers etc. it was hard to do with TDKR and I ended up watching a trailer and then when I went to watch it, I kept looking out for various scenes.

Oh man up the lot of you. It's Superman. It's not like a state secret or something.

We're at the point where I go as early as possible to films now. I'm sorry, but even the Beeb's shows couldn't resist giving away 'the big dramatic bit' in Skyfall while it was in cinemas, for instance. I'm told they did something similar with Iron Man 3 and 'Thrones more recently. The promo material for Superman has just been silly - I know quite a few non-geeks who now switch channel in the mornings when a blockbuster is out cos they're sick of the 'spoiler' footage, only to find different footage on the other channel! This morning was ridiculous between BBC Breakfast and Daybreak.

Seriously? A 30 second clip on the telly is a spoiler? As in it'll ruin your enjoyment of the film? Damn. I kind of glad the job I do doesn't have this sort of knife edge validation to it. "Sorry I'm late." "You missed 30 seconds of the lesson, and what's more you've ruined it for everyone else."
Or:
"Here's 30 seconds of next weeks lecture. You needn't bother showing up now, as the other 28 minutes and 30 seconds are entirely redundant, along with the practical."

It's not like it's 30 seconds of one scene, it's just about every action scene the film has in one go. That might not bother you but it bothers a lot of other people

What 'big dramatic bit' in Skyfall was that? I don't remember there being any particular dramatic twists or revelations in it. They may have given away stuff for IM3, I wasn't really paying attention to that. I can't imagine they gave away the recent major shocks in GoT because you pretty much couldn't show them on terrestrial TV, given the level of violence involved. Again, I'm not entirely sure what there is to give away in Superman. Superman's origin story is something like 80 years old. The main villain is the same bad guy as was in a film made something like 35 years ago. The idea these kind of films can be 'spoiled' strikes me as bizarre. You can spoil a thriller, you can spoil a murder mystery, you can spoil any film with a twist, but can you spoil a film that's retelling a story that's older than pretty much every person who will ever see it, that has already been made into a film twice?
