Superhero Movie - I shouldn't have laughed but I did. Mostly at the Leslie Nielsen bits Full disclosure - I watched it for free on Netflix

Jack Reacher - it's still on now and I'm debating whether to turn it off.
I read the books so it was always going to be a stretch watching Cruise trying to pull it off but that aside it's actually not a very good film. The acting is weak, the characters are neither here nor there (including Reacher), the sets, the direction, nothing stands out to make this anything other than a (below) average movie that frankly so far could have been made for TV.
Honestly without Cruise this could have been a straight to DVD release in my opinion.
I am biased because of my familiarity with the books so I'll keep going to the end but I don't expect my opinion to change much.

I watched Jack Reacher at the cinema, and also downloaded the film too and watched it recently.
Having read One Shot after the cinema viewing but before the home viewing, I felt I was able to make comparisons. They had to cut loads of stuff out because of time constraints but the film had no pacing and certain bits just didn't make sense or fit. I much preferred the original where Reacher cuts their throats. I felt the film lacked any "oomph".
I thought the car chase was just OTT.

Now the car chase so far is the only bit I did like.

Cruise is just simply miscast as Jack Reacher. One Shot is just another hollywood piece of **** movie. End.
In other news, I watched a couple of things on iplayer recently, Skeletons and My Afternoons with Margueritte. Both charming in their own way and streets apart from Hollywood fare. And all the better for it. Recommend both.
ps forgot to say Hello to Jason Isaacs for skeletons.

Few, just put in an 8 hour day at the cinema, with 30 minute breaks for sustenance. I know, now, where the best mojito in Torquay is served. Mmmm minty. Anyway, the scores from our Torquay judges:
Superman - Enjoyable nonsense with Bay-tastic levels of mayhem and LOUD NOISES. Enjoyed it more than that Dark Knight Rises thingamabob. The usual Christ comparisons and 'as American as the 4th of July' still dog the franchise however. 7/10 Despicable Me 2 - Funny. 8/10 (just bear in mind it is aimed at children.) World War Z - Zombies. It's a zombie movie. Nothing particularly special, but the effects are well done and it's enjoyable enough. Few 'make you jump' moments. Also, the screening was full of blokes. Make of that what you will. 7/10

I'm not sure he's the draw he once was tbh. Apart from anything else he seems to have spent about the last four years dressing as if he was a tramp. These days it's all.. Ryan Gosling? (I have no idea who that is, but I hear the name a lot).

21 Jump Street - I personally can't deal with American frat boy behaviour any more, my cringe reflex isn't up to it

21 Jump Street isn't actually all that funny, it's strangely watch-able, but it's luke-warm throughout.

Just watched it (again), it works much better as an adult; you get the references for one thing! It's hilariously mad

It's got a very familiar 'I've seen this before, and I enjoyed whatever it was it sort of reminds me of' feel to it.
