Rode 50 miles at the weekend for Leukaemia and Lymphoma research with 2 friends, nice to see the money we raised might help someone, sort of put a face to the contributions

Does that mean it won't look like a crapping dog any more?

Travis Barker (Blink 182 drummer) used to be the drummer for The Aquabats (superhero ska punk band with their own kids tv show) until he left for Blink 182

There used to be a book called rock family trees IIRC, which shows which band members were in which bands before.

I don’t know what you mean....

He’s apparently wanting to build one for himself. I expect a few of the more rabid Crossfire owners in the USA will want one too - and make him idiotic offers. I’ve seen a few sketches. All on Hyundai note paper :-D

iPhone Apps Have to Pull in $47K+ Daily to Make Top 10 Grossing Apps

Quote:
We all know that the App Store is popular. However, most of us don’t know how much it takes to achieve fame on the App Store. For an App to make the top ten, they must reach around 4,000 downloads a day. If they want to be part of the top-grossing, they have to reach over $47,000 a day.

That’s a lot of money. The data comes from app analytics company Distimo, which tallied up the May download numbers to figure out what the top apps pulled in. Keep in mind that the $47,000 number is only to make the top ten. That means number 10 pulled in almost $50,000 a day.

For free apps, it took about 72,000 downloads a day to reach number 10.

It’s pretty amazing how much some of these apps much make each day. There is plenty more data if you’re interested in getting some more in-depth numbers at AppleInsider.

In which case this should be in the "The Something That You Re-Learned Today" thread?

Parachuting for charity: is it worth the money? A 5-year audit of parachute injuries in Tayside and the cost to the NHS.
Lee CT, Williams P, Hadden WA.
Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Perth Royal Infirmary, Scotland, UK.
Abstract
All parachute injuries from two local parachute centres over a 5-year period were analysed. Of 174 patients with injuries of varying severity, 94% were first-time charity-parachutists. The injury rate in charity-parachutists was 11% at an average cost of £3751 per casualty. Sixty-three percent of casualties who were charity-parachutists required hospital admission, representing a serious injury rate of 7%, at an average cost of £5781 per patient. The amount raised per person for charity was £30. Each pound raised for charity cost the NHS £13.75 in return. Parachuting for charity costs more money than it raises, carries a high risk of serious personal injury and places a significant burden on health resources.

I would love to try skydiving once but a problem stands in my way. That being to remember to pull the ripcord. Until I have worked out a fool proof solution to that it will have to be an ambition.
