After seeing a demo of the playroom app, I've just ordered a PS4 camera though the link. Tiny robots in your TV!

This was in my inbox.

Quote:
Changes to the Amazon.co.uk Super Saver Delivery service

This change relates specifically to Free Super Saver Delivery and all other delivery services including Amazon Prime remain unchanged.

We’re writing to you because you’ve previously used our Free Super Saver Delivery service.
We wanted to let you know that Amazon.co.uk has introduced a £10 minimum spend to qualify for Free Super Saver Delivery in a number of product categories, effective 23 July 2013.
Orders that include books, DVDs, Blu-rays, music, video games and software products continue to qualify for Free Super Saver Delivery with no minimum spend threshold. So whether it’s a new release CD for £7 or a bestselling book for £5, you’ll continue to receive Free Super Saver Delivery on millions of items regardless of the amount you spend. In fact, you will continue to enjoy Free Super Saver Delivery on all orders that include these types of items, for example an order that includes a book for £3.49 and an HDMI cable for £4.49. For all other orders, a minimum total spend of £10 is now required to qualify for Free Super Saver Delivery.
Whilst the change will affect only a very small proportion of orders, it will allow us to offer you a significantly expanded selection of lower priced products.

We continue to work hard every day to improve the delivery services that we offer. For example, Amazon Prime allows you to benefit from unlimited, One Day delivery on all orders with no minimum threshold for an annual fee of £49. Prime members continue to enjoy discounted rates on a number of our delivery services including Evening Delivery which has recently been extended to a total of 19 towns and cities across the UK.

Another recent introduction is Amazon Lockers and collection points. These self-service delivery locations allow you to pick up Amazon deliveries at a time and location that is most convenient to you.

That fantastic new policy with Amazon has just seen me not pay £9.89 to them* - I'm not faffing about trying to find a 70p album or something, I just got the same item off eBay for the same price

* £3.30 extra the delivery would have came to at it's cheapest. There's much smaller online retailers who'll ship it for less than that!

Yeah, but part of the benefit with Amazon is their infrastructure (delivery time, info, returns service etc), which they're now somewhat sabotaging.

I found that delivery times with Amazon were slower than elsewhere. Amazon seem to hold deliveries back as long as possible to seemingly drive customers to Amazon Prime, or to pay extra for faster delivery. I can order things from eBay and Amazon and the eBay items arrive days earlier. Customer service from Amazon is negligible as they refer you to the supplier/seller. I have had items not arrive and it does get settled with Amazon, though it has been a long time since I had a problem with an eBay seller.

Amazon are quick I've found :? , certainly quicker than Play.com for instance, even before they sold out.

I've never had any bother with returns; just print the labels and it's back to the PO with it. Automated refunds yada yada yada :D
