In which case end NHS provision for all and allow people to buy it at £170 a throw.

indeed. I think couples who can't afford £170 for treatment can't really afford to have a child :S

Completely agree. TBH I've always thought that IVF should be self-funded. It's technically not a disease process.

That's fine with me, in that case I think I should be dispensed of part of my taxes.

Do you not feel the money would be better spent on other areas of healthcare instead?

I do think that the very low paid should possibly get a discount. Most people do not consider the cost when they first get pregnant. It is tackled as it happens. Most hope that their circumstances improve over time. If you wait too long then who knows what will happen? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk.

The rules for adoption are strict. Surely there's no reason for laxer rules here?

Rules for adoption are mostly to cover the backs of social workers. If we were going to be completely equitable would many here pass the adoption criteria if they were applied to having children naturally? Too old not stable enough relationships smoking or other health condition? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk.

What I find interesting is how much people get paid for fostering. A chap I know via CoD gets paid £800/wk to foster someone. If that happens to be a teenage tearaway and they run away, so long as the foster family are happy to have them back (ie open door policy) they still get paid the same amount even though the teen isn't at the foster home. That's more than I first started working as a doctor.
