I am in the middle of some serious room reorganisation and one of the talks I am taking on today is the removal of my VHS tape collection.
There are probably a couple of hundred tapes, (I'll update this when I've boxed them all) but I need suggestions add to what to do with them. There are loads of Star Trek Voyagers, some X Files and loads of music tapes as well as the wife's Friends tapes, (by which I mean the programme "Friends" not tapes that belong to her friends) and don't worry, I bought her the complete collection ON DVD.
The tapes aren't worth anything, I already know that, but I really don't want to throw them away so any suggestions add to what I could do with them?
Thanks.

Sadly, there's not much you can do with them but bin them. Or, why not get in touch with the local college and see if the art department want them in the name of recycling? Students love turning dead media into something meaningful (well, to them at least).

Charity shops still take them over here at least (dunno if that says anything about as a country lmao).

Thanks for the suggestions guys. There are just short of150, though I'm sure there's another stash somewhere else... I've already got most of them on DVD, Alun, and those which I don't haven't been watched for over 10 years, so off they go! I'll give an art tutor I know a call to see if they're interested but at the moment it's looking like charity shop or skip Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Plenty of people still buy vhs tapes from charity shops. Better they get to sell them for ten pence each rather than binning them.

I phoned a number of charity shops but they weren't interested. I'll ask at the skip if they recycle or if the guy wants them for a car boot sale.

No joy. Dumping four bin bags full of videos make John feel sad. Sorry world. :'(

Remember all those good times you spent scouring the shops to get the video you wanted and smile at the memories. Most of my tapes are in the loft and the player is currently in the hall way.

SWMBO also took some persuading to get rid of them - again memories - however finally managed to get her to do it esp as the player had died and no one we knew had a player so we could not even play them back!
