Well. Not for me but my wife has plonked down a deposit for a Skoda Yeti. It's the one that you can do tattooing in, drive through a burning warehouse whilst holding an ice cream and having a helicopter landing on the roof.

She took it for a test drive today, really liked it and is collecting it on Thursday. It seems much better than the indolent cart horse that is the current Zafira.

A friend of mine just got a Yeti, too. A shiny black one. His previous was a Meriva, which I was quite impressed with, to be honest.

Oh dear :P

I have to say I do like the Skoda range now, the image is improving and I've got my eye on a Fabia VRS as a next car, practical, nippy (with a stg1 remap will hit 60 under 6 seconds), low tax and low insurance and the dsg seems to be favourable for a non race car apart from trying to change up instead of holding high revs

Most of the taxis around here are now Skoda. They have come a long way from their "double its value by filling it with petrol" days. I am not a regular user of taxis but they are actually rather comfortable.

Same, most are Octavia diesels (inc vrs) or Superbs, a few VW Passats about and not much else

I wonder if the taxi owners get a big discount for using Skoda's? It would be a great way for people to travel in Skoda's and find out how much they have improved.

Aren't Skoda owned by VW these days? They're basically the same cars with different body work on top and a lower price.

Yep, they are Volkswagen. Basically the Yeti is a Caddy in a different dress. My middle future brother-in-law has one and is very happy with it. The Roomster is also a Caddy derivative, but without the SUV look.

Same as Seat. The Exeo is a previous generation Audi A4 and doesn't make much effort to disguise the fact.

Unfortunately not - a mate is a taxi driver and has one - no special discounts though

I had a rear engined Skoda. It would not die and, despite the jokes, was very reliable. I kept it until the parts dried up.

When my dad was after a new car a couple of years ago, he wanted a Yeti but there was a 6 month waiting list. So he ended up getting a Roomster.

We looked at them but went for the Hyundai IX35 as very similar but you get a 5 yr warranty (and slightly cheaper to)

It does show that taxi drivers en masse have worked out what good value the Skoda range is.
