Xbox One developer explains why splitting RAM is beneficial

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/42 ... eneficial/

By all means have stuff running in the background, but nobody in their right mind wants their friends popping up while they're in a single-player game. Do you know what people do when they get a text or whatever? They pause the film or game! And that's if they don't ignore it altogether.

Sony clarifies exactly what requires a subscription on PS4

http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/co ... s4-1169469

So many people won't touch that subscription with a forty foot pole, especially after the PS3 hack, but the money it'll make anyway will be impressive. Fcuking original Xbox users paying for something that's free nearly everywhere else... ;)

It's dumb requiring a subscription for demos and so on though; that's a very quick way to hurt yourself.

Microsoft 'looking into' including headsets with Xbox One

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/42 ... -xbox-one/

At this rate, MS will have to get the white flag out.

What really surprises me is that it was not announced at the launch of the Xbox One-80.

I think part of the problem was even the spokespeople couldn't believe what they were supposed to say ;)

They may simply have been winging it and hoped that they got no awkward questions. It looks like that was a mistake and that they are backtracking on everything. I do not use or need a head set because I do not use multiplayer games, so have no vested interest in headsets. There are plenty who do and it looks like they were not considered. This really should have been resolved at the very beginning and not even been an issue.

That looks like marketing spin. I do think that the PS4 will do better than the Xbox One-80 initially. It all depends on the initial feed back over pre owned games. There will be large numbers who will buy no matter because they will want the latest console.

Next-gen sales will surpass current-gen, says Riccitiello

I'd guess he'll be right about the sales, but who's honestly gonna want their games or VOD interrupted? Who even considers that crap when buying a console?

Sales might be higher because of the prices charged. Though actual unit sales might be lower. If both consoles are basically the same it will be interesting to see if Sony sneak out pre owned restrictions quietly later on?

Certainly not on lending games they can't, not after taking the mick out of MS. Either company trying to go backwards now would be crucified I suspect. Just recently Codemasters dropped it's used game restrictions IIRC, following on from EA.

The industry were clearly on drugs when they thought up the used games policy. As Asia gets richer I do see higher sales in that region.
