Has anyone used a dog or cat sitting service? If so what was your experience?

Thanks

I think that they can be expensive and sometimes the animal comes back feeling that they have been punished for something. I have cat sat for a friend, I stayed in their house topping up the food for the cats. Maybe you could find someone to stay in your place while you go away? Then the cats can stay in their own home and not feel like they have been punished.

It would never even occur to me to ship my moggy off somewhere for a week or two. I don't organise a holiday without checking a friend can come round and look after her.

It took her two weeks to settle when she moved in the first time. Now she is very, very settled. On my right arm at the moment

Yes I have

We normally get friends to come and feed the cats if we go away but occasionally they have been unable to and I would rather they are kept at home than put in kennels if at all possible.

We found a Company that will come to your house, feed and water the cats (and if you want play with them!), check they are OK and if needed take them to the vets

The lady who does it lived just up the road from us so it was not that expensive as she did not charge us travel time / petrol
