Is there a way that I can do this? I'm pretty good with cars, so taking the door panel off, and stuff isn't really a problem. Just wondering whats out there to do this, links of products would be of help too!

Either use an FM transmitter or plug a 3.5mm jack lead in to the stereo (most cars have inputs nowadays)

FM transmitter is an option, or if your head unit has an auxiliary input you could use a cable to connect the two.

I found the FM transmitter to be pants. I have an iPod touch and use a USB to connect to a Kenwood head unit (wasn't that expensive either). The head unit then controls the iPod to skip through tracks, albums, etc to stop you staring at the iPos screen and crashing the car

Almost a word-for-word likeness of my post. I've just noticed that I've assumed this is just for playing music. Are you looking for a hands-free kit Bish??

What car is it? You can get adapters that allow MP3 players to be fitted so that the signal is fed into the head unit so you get a better sound than the FM transmitters and Bluetooth.

That head-unit sounds really good. I will be in the market for a new head unit in a couple of months time. Can you remember what model it is? And would you recommend it over-all?

I'll have a look at the model tonight and let you know. Overall it has been a pretty good unit. I would recommend it (to quote an F1 driver) "for sure".

It might be worth waiting a few weeks.
The 3.0 software opened up the dock to accessory manufactures just a week ago. A LOT of new options should be arriving soon.

Had a quick look on Halfords as thats where I got mine from. Although they dont do my exact one (bought it over a year ago) they have this: Kenwood KDC-W4544
Looking at the description its almost identical (front USB with slide cover) apart from mine had more pre-outs I think. Not that it matters unless you're connecting a few amps.

My fella bought me a Panasonic FM transmitter which is brilliant. It's worked fine with great reception and sound in my last three cars when hooked up to my Phillips mp3 player. It took a bit of twiddling about to find stations that worked properly and didn't lose signal, but once I'd got that sorted I can listen from Nottingham to Swindon without any issue at all.

I have a feeling Mark replaced his HU with one that meant he could control it via steering wheel controls. Or thinking about it, he may have replaced the HU so he and an aux socket, and the difficulty was getting the new HU to work with steering wheel controls. I'm sure he'll be along to clear my mumblings at some point. He could, of course, have simply changed a tyre for all I can remember.
