While the outcome of the prosecutions for animal cruelty is good, the RSPCA should not have such open access. There should be someone who filters out irrelevant information. This is also not good for the police as our data is not being protected properly.

I'm a huge animal lover, but even I think the RSPCA can behave like a bunch of bullying nazis sometimes.

I agree. The police should be doing the prosecutions and bring the RSPCA in as expert witnesses. That would also reduce their need to access the police database.

The RSPCA shouldn't have access at all, ever.

In fact, I can only think of four organisations that should have access: the Police, the UK Border Agency, MI5 and MI6. Everyone else can foxtrot oscar.

The problem was that the government allowed more than 100 organisations access. The councils were allowed access and they abused it. I agree that access should be cut back significantly.
