Even so it also needs another HDMI socket most likely. How many TV's have 5 HDMI sockets?

Mine has loads and I bought it years ago, also, you get dirt cheap adaptors now in the likes of B&M.

Hardy a relevant question if the target market is the casual gamer who wants to stop his kids stealing his tablet computer from him all the time.

So he's going to spend 100 quid (or whatever) + the price of another TV for them rather than just buying them a tablet?

I don't really care if I inaccurately deescribed the target demographic. I just don't think the target market are obsessive hoarders of consoles. They all have Playstations and/or Xboxes and will turn their noses up at this anyway. So worrying about whether that demographic sector as enough holes in their TVs for this particular box seems a bit pointless.
I might be the intended audience. I could spend a trivial sum on a tiny console for playing phone games. It can replace the Xbox360 that my housemate got for free with a phone and has never been removed from its packaging. The PS2 that only ever saw action as a DVD player (well maybe there was some Gran Turismo on it a few years ago). The original Xbox that I won in a competition and gave away after spending one afternoon playing Halo. And the PS1 that was awesome because it had Tekken2.

Mine has 4, I think. I use one for the Apple TV and one for the Bluray, but the Apple TV is a waste space - and electricity, it doesn't have a standby, you have to physically pull the power cable out!
I owned PS2 years ago, but rarely used it, I bought it when I was ill and my household was in storage, so that I could watch DVDs...

There is an option to turn it off in settings. Have you updated the OS and looked in settings?

Apple have never issued an update for the Mk 1 and the 'off' option just turns off the video port, the processor and hard drive still consume the same amount of power as when the device is 'on'.

I have a later version so that explains why. Sorry about that. I held off until the Apple TV could handle 1080p output.
