PS Plus not required for PS4 video capture

It's a next to useless feature for the majority, but Sony still come out of it looking better.

Yes but for the few that capture video of games and post them on Youtube it does amount to free publicity.

On the other hand the PS4 utilises standard x86 architecture with processors from AMD, saving Sony on R&D costs and allowing for a more attractive launch price point of $400/£349.

With many of these components being build outside Japan the prospects for keeping the price down are also quite good.

More Xbox One woes, next-gen console may not support cross-platform chat

I'm not entirely convinced anyone should care, but MS really need to get a grip

I think that the purpose is to get more people to join their friends on the XBox One-80. It does seem strange that they will exclude many current users for a while.

To quote the Kaz Hirai parody twitter account 'I like this new Xbox One. It's much better than the one they announced a few months back.'

My predominant thought reading that was "why would it and did I ever expect it to?"

Funnily enough I've been thinking about the new consoles recently and concluded that if I do pre-order one it will likely be the Xbox One. I know, crazy right? I do have my reasons*, including the fact I'll still be playing GT6 on PS3 long after the PS4 release date anyway, but realistically the chances are I won't get either for quite some time.

Maybe.

Possibly.

*Controller is yummy
*Xbox Live (I think your subs carry over don't they?)
*God damn online PS3 services are crap. Seriously 4OD just flat out hangs the console now. Power lead removal required to fix!
*Game line up looks better so far

From my perspective only...

Nevr got on with the Xbox controller; it just seemed illogical. Not that the DS was well thought out.

Yeah, I'd assume Live carries over, but you get a lot more for the same money with Plus. Both have sh1tty infrastructure in their own ways though.

No gimmicky, expensive camera you'll probably never use

Yes, I miss the off-switch.

I agree about the games line-up.

I will wait until there are plenty of games, that I want, for each of the platforms before I consider buying.

It looks like they have completely reversed every decision they announced at the launch. Why on earth didn't they actually think this through before they announced it. Including the kinect in the launch does make sense for long tern development but making it obligatory for use alienated many potential customers and created a lot of bad publicity.

Because they were being too forward thinking and the numpties who complained so much and so so vocally couldnt see the wood for the trees. Not forgetting the irony of people being online complaing about being online.

I've spent days without internet access, I've also seen PSN games that need it - it's a pain in the hole when you're already cut off.
