Applied for a job at a design agency a few weeks ago, got an interview last week and then they asked me back for a 2nd interview and to spend the day with them on Monday. Out of around 100 applicants, I got down the the final 3 (plus one internal applicant from a designer in the office). They were having all 3 finalists in for a day before they made their decision at the end of this week. The day on Monday went well, they were happy with the work I did and they were giving off positive signals in the 2nd interview afterwards. I had high hopes for this one after spending the last 3 months applying for various designer jobs and sending my CV to agencies.

Anyway, I thought I'd ring one of my ex-colleagues last night to see how he was getting on - he was also made redundant when the company we were both previously working for went bust at the end of April. We quickly put two and two together when he explained he'd gone for an interview at an agency in the same area. And to be fair, we both found it quite funny really, to be up against the person you've worked with for the last 14 years or so was quite amusing and really bizarre considering the numbers of applicants involved.

Sadly, I heard today that I wasn't successful - but at the end, it was between me and my ex-colleague - and he got the job.

I've texted him to say well done, and wished him good luck. And I truly mean it, I really do - he's got a wife and 3 kids to support so I don't begrudge him this job at all, in fact he needs it more than me at the moment. But I just can't help feeling as if I've been kicked in the teeth. Not by him, you understand, we get on really well and I consider him a mate first and then a colleague second. I suppose I wouldn't feel this bad if it was just some anonomous person I'd lost out to.

Bugger it, I think I just need to get really drunk tonight. :|

Concrete all the way here, and that's preferable to me!

Jeremy Bowen, as if he wasn't enough of a twat, has grown some pointy sideburns.

I'm thinking of the most annoying things that people do on the internet, after casual pet abuse I think it's gratuitously wasting food products
