"Flash for cash" (not you were thinking)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-23717575

Good luck fighting that in court - even if you could prove they flashed you, the intent to let you out of the junction isn't legally enforceable, iirc.

I heard "flash for cash" and thought of something other than cars. This is a new one on me but does make me think of very recent occasions where I've flashed to let someone through and they haven't taken it.

They probably think that you are going to ram them. The police will have their hands full, though what is needed is new guidelines that involve the police at every road accident not just those with injuries. That will mean that the police will be able to see if victims actually exist etc.

flashing another vehicle is intended to warn them of your presence on the road (highway code) not a nod to indicate they can do something with your permission ...

Everyone knows that. It is still used as a courtesy, to let people out.

that is why they can crash into the other vehicle and make a very good claim against them as they are backed up by the high way code
not an unwritten law that individuals use on the road for there own and others convenience ...

We're going to end up like Russia at this rate where a large number of vehicles are fitted with cameras to enable drivers to dispute fraudulent claims.

 :o

I've seen some ropey driving in my time but I don't think I'd like to drive in Russia any time soon.
