The suggestion over the difference in age is due to the arrested people being the man's wife and child, in which case that's perfectly acceptable. Whether or not he is capable of making the decision while in the early stages of dementia would be assessed pretty carefully by the people involved with Dignitas. It's not just a case of turning up, paying your money and away you go, for a start, the person themselves has to take the drink to end their life, nobody else is allowed to assist.

Also a doctor here would have diagnosed dementia.

If the man is passed as mentally fit then there is nothing to stop him (and his family) leaving the country and going to Switzerland.
Just a shame that he has to leave this country if he wants to end his life.
